Fort Myers Beach, Florida, USA

Fort Myers Beach (FL, USA)
Visited: June 2017

Fort Myers Beach is a perfect example of a beach community. The whole industry here is geared toward tourism. Completely over-run during spring break, this is a delightful spot to go to late in the season or in the off-season if you can stand the heat. Our whole family went - myself, my wife and our two children (four years, six months) We had a good time walking around the tourist down-town, playing in the water, and eating at the various restaurants.

We lucked out with the weather in that we only had one day where the temperature got up into the 90's. But even then, the heat was expected and easily dealt with by staying inside during the mid-afternoon and then swimming in the pool. I think having kids along on this vacation made it easier because they were totally happy to hang out by the water.

I would definitely go back. I am told that Thanksgiving is a fun time to be there and not too busy. Also there is a pirate festival in September that I would love to see.
